THE Borders recorded four coronavirus-related deaths last week, new figures show.
An update was published by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) at 12pm today (December 15).
The data covers December 6-12, during which four deaths were recorded in the Borders.
The total number of deaths where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate this year in the region stands at 106, according to the figures.
In the week before December 6 the region had recorded five deaths by this measure.
The total since the start of the pandemic stands at 210 in the Borders.
According to an NRS spokesperson, as at December 12 there have been a total of 12,303 deaths in Scotland.
And at 2pm today, the Scottish Government released figures regarding the number of COVID-19 cases in the Borders.
The data shows that in the last 24 hours the region recorded 78 cases, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 11,667.
There are six people in hospital in the Borders with recently confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Scotland has now recorded 777,885 cases since March last year.
