THE GALA Fairydean Rovers FC Community Trust’s Christmas Foodbank collection which was due to go-ahead at Netherdale today is being rescheduled after the first team’s game against Stirling University being postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Supporters attending the game had been invited to drop off donations of non-perishable items either in the clubrooms or at the gate.

Secretary of the Community Trust Graeme McIver told us: “The Foodbank Collection for today will be rescheduled for a later date. (Details to follow) Any donations already purchased can be dropped off at the club rooms on Sunday (19 December) between 1pm and 3pm.”

The Gala Fairydean Rovers FC Community Trust was launched in September 2020 and aims to engage, inspire and empower the people of Galashiels and the Central Borders to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

The Trust includes the GFR Football Academy, the Gala Fairydean Rovers Amateur Football Squad, the Women’s and Girl’s section, Para (Disability) Football, and over 50s Walking Football.
