AN appeal has been launched after cash was stolen from a business in the Borders.

Police say they were called to Born in Scotland, Jedburgh, at around 6.15am today (Sunday).

Officers were also called to reports of “an attempted break in” at a garage in St Boswells Green later in the morning at around 10.50am. 

They say the premises had sustained damage to its windows overnight.

Police Scotland stated “these incidents are believed to be linked at this time”.

Detective Constable Liam Myers, Galashiels CID said: “This type of crime is incredibly thoughtless and devastating at any time of year, never mind so close to Christmas. It is vital that we trace those responsible.

“This is a rural area, however, we are appealing for anyone who was in the area, either walking or driving, and may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary either late last night, or early this morning, to get in touch with us.
