THE addition of missing coronavirus cases has seen the total in the Borders jump by more than 230 in a day.

Updated figures were published by the Scottish Government at 2pm today (December 23).

And the data shows the Borders has now recorded 12,366 – a significant increase on yesterday’s total of 12,128.

Public Health Scotland says it has resolved an issue which saw a lower number of positive cases reported than expected on Wednesday.

Those missing cases have been added to today’s update.

According to the figures, there remain fewer than five people in hospital in the Borders with recently confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a number of drop-in vaccination clinics will be running in the region this evening and Christmas Eve.

Haylodge Health Centre, Peebles, will be offering jags until 5.30pm, while a facility in Galashiels’ Volunteer Hall will be on until 8pm.

Clinics at St Ronan’s Health Centre, Innerleithen, and Springwood Park, Kelso, will be on until 6pm.

On Christmas Eve, Galashiels’ Volunteer Hall will be open for drop-ins from 1pm-3pm.

First doses will be on offer for those aged 12 and over.

Second jags can be accessed by people aged 18 and over who had their first dose at least eight weeks ago or for those aged 16-17 who had their first vaccination at least 12 weeks ago.

Booster doses will be available for people 18 years old and over who had their second dose at least 12 weeks ago or for those who had a third primary dose at least 12 weeks ago.
