THE New Year’s Day Borders derby between Gala Fairydean Rovers and Vale of Leithen, which was scheduled to take place at Netherdale, has been postponed due to COVID issues.
The announcement was made by the Scottish Lowland League on social media.
It is understood that Gala Fairydean Rovers requested the postponement.
Berwick Rangers who played Gala at Shielfield Park on Boxing Day have also had their fixture against league leaders Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic called off.
A daily testing regime was introduced by the Lowland League on December 22 for playing staff, team staff and club board members while all attendances are capped at 500 people in line with rules for outdoor events.
Vale’s next game is at home to Berwick Rangers on Saturday, January 8. Gala Fairydean Rovers have an away game against Civil Service Strollers in Edinburgh that day.
