A POLICE investigation is underway after a bus travelling to the Scottish Borders from Edinburgh sustained three smashed windows.

The X95 bus which travels between Edinburgh and Carlisle left the St Andrew’s Square bus station at 7.25pm on Tuesday 28 December. At that time two passengers were on board.

At 7.55pm the vehicle sustained three broken windows on the nearside when it passed near the ‘The Wisp’ junction in the Danderhall area.

Police were called to the scene and a replacement bus was summoned to allow passengers to continue their journey.

No-one is understood to have been injured.

At 8.28pm Borders Buses tweeted: “X95 - Danderhall (20:00) to Galashiels (20:51) will be severely delayed due to vandalism to the bus. Another bus is on route. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but this is outwith our control.”

Lothian buses have been subjected to similar attacks throughout the city in recent months and have suspended a number of routes as a response.
