THE Borders recorded almost 1,000 cases of coronavirus over the New Year.
According to figures released at 2pm today (January 3) by the Scottish Government, between New Year's Eve (December 31) and today, 988 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the region.
The total number of cases in the Borders now stands at 15,138.

There are currently 24 people in hospital in the Borders with recently confirmed COVID-19 – an increase of six since Friday.
Hospital figures for January 1 and 2 will be released on Wednesday (January 5).
The total number of cases in Scotland stands at 966,027 and there are 1,031 in hospital nationally.
