A Borders' woman has been hailed the new ‘Brenda from Bristol’ after her forthright views on the Prime Minister went viral.

On Friday Channel Four carried out a Vox Pop in Selkirk and asked voters what they made of the Downing Street party scandal following huge backlash from voters and MPs alike.

And one irate Borders woman was happy to share her opinion and responded: "Him? Oh he needs a kick up the a***."

When asked if he should resign, the woman said in an ummistakable Borders accent: "Absolutely, but he’ll no’ dae the decent thing, will he?".

Since then, the hilarious encounter has been shared numerous times on social media with overwhelming praise from members of the public.

One tweeted: ‘Wee wifie in Selkirk speaks for Scotland.’

Another posted: ‘Sometimes being succinct is absolutely the right choice. Well done, lady from Selkirk.’

Brenda from Bristol became an internet sensation with her response to BBC reporter Jon Kay’s news that Theresa May called a new ballot in April 2017.

Brenda replied: “You’re joking? Not another one! Oh for God’s sake, I can’t honestly… I can’t stand this.”

Two other women in Selkirk shared their verdict on Boris Johnson and spoke about the lack of support for pregnant women throughout lockdown.

One said: "Things were not available for people who are pregnant and things like that, which especially for first-time mums who haven't had that experience before and he's having a party at the same time - it's pretty disgraceful."

The other said: "There are some mums that had to give birth on their own so if that was me finding out that Boris Johnson had a party in his garden while mothers had to give birth in a terrifying time. It's just disgraceful."
