A 35-YEAR-OLD Borders man who spat on a female police officer has been warned he could face a custodial sentence.
Brian Chilcott, of Brisbane Place, Kelso, pleaded guilty to two offences at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in Overhaugh Street, Galashiels, on the night of April 3 by acting in an aggressive manner towards two police constables and then entering their police vehicle uninvited and refusing to leave when requested as well as shouting and swearing and struggling with them.

At Hawick Police Station Chilcott assaulted a female police officer by spitting on her.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said spitting on a police officer was a serious matter and warned Chilcott he was considering the possibility of a custodial sentence.
Sentence was deferred until February 21 for reports.
