A 27-YEAR-OLD man has died in a Borders crash.

The incident took place near St Boswells at around 8.15pm on Friday night (February 4), according to police.

A silver Ford Fusion car was travelling southbound when it left the road, say officers.

Emergency services attended and a 27-year-old man, the driver and sole occupant of the car, died at the scene.

The road was closed for recovery to take place and for collision investigation work. It reopened around 3.40am this morning.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help to get in touch.

“In particular we are asking for those driving in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch. If you have dash-cam footage that could assist then please contact us.”

The incident is the second fatal crash in the region in a matter of days after a man, 30, died in a two-car smash near Borders General Hospital on Tuesday.
