Are there areas in the Scottish Borders where you feel unsafe?

Police officers want to know and  they have launched an 8-minute survey where participants can place virtual pins on a map to identify dangerous locations.

A maximum of three pins can be placed on the map and those taking part will be asked to provide much detail as possible.

Locations may be street names, buildings, areas of towns/cities, or names of parks and it is important to be specific.

Participants are then asked what specifically makes them feel less safe in this area and what would make this area feel more safe for them?

This new service lets the public anonymously tell officers about public places where they have felt or feel unsafe, because of environmental issues, e.g. street lighting, abandoned buildings or vandalism and/or because of some behaviours, e.g. being followed or verbally abused.

Other questions asked include how safe do you feel in your local area?

To what extent has your concern about crime in your local area increased or decreased in the last 12 months?

What are the police doing well in your local area?

And is there anything the police could do better to support communities in your local area?

The survey can be accessed at Police Scotland’s Facebook page.
