A PEEBLESSHIRE charity has received a donation of more than £1,000 thanks to fundraising by a local business.

Tweed Togs, which is based at The Business Hub in Peebles, provides high quality, pre-loved clothing to local families in need for children aged up to 12 years old.

And thanks to Oregon Timber Frame Ltd. in Selkirk the charity received a cheque for £1,250.

Tammy Yourston, human resource manager at Oregon, said: “It is our pleasure that we are able to help this worthwhile charity.”

Susan Walker of Tweed Togs said: “Tweed Togs is so grateful to Oregon Timber Frame for this very generous donation which will help sustain our service at a time when opportunities to fundraise have been compromised.

“Thanks to our dedicated team of lovely volunteers we have managed to continue our service throughout the lockdown periods.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 we have provided 560 wardrobes of clothes which is the equivalent of 1680 gift bags.”

Referrals to Tweed Togs can be made via health visitors, midwives, schools, food banks, the Citizens Advice Bureau and local churches by email.

Seasonal clothing is then chosen and packaged by Tweed Togs volunteers into gift bags.
