Two men, a lorry driver and his replacement driver, were taken to hospital after their HGV crashed during icy conditions on the A701 in Tweedsmuir last week.
The crash happened around 10pm on Thursday night near the Crook Inn, Tweedsmuir.
Earlier snow had cleared but freezing weather turned the road into a ‘sheet of ice’ according to a local resident who described driving conditions as ‘treacherous.’
Emergency services rushed to the scene and both men were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where they were assessed.
They were subsequently discharged and were said to be ‘amazed’ at the scene when they returned the following day.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10pm on 24 February 2022, police received a report of a one vehicle road crash on the A701 near Tweedsmuir.
“Emergency services attended and two men were taken to hospital in Edinburgh to be checked over.
“Arrangements were made to uplift the lorry.”
