A SPECIAL musical event is coming to Innerleithen this Mother’s Day weekend thanks to two West End stars.

Two members of the cast of Mamma Mia! on the West End will bring your favourite Abba hits, as well as musical bingo, to the Memorial Hall on Saturday, March 26 and to Ayton on March 27, as part of an Afternoon Tea and Show experience.

Award-winning West End stars Sharon Sexton (who plays Donna in the UK and International Tour of Mamma Mia!) and Rob Fowler – who plays Sam in the same production, and is currently starring in Jim Steinman’s Bat Out of Hell – will bring their talents to the Borders for Mother’s Day.

John Atkinson, from Hemelvaart Bier Cafe in Ayton – which has organised the event – said: “We reached out to Sharon and Rob as we wanted to run an intimate Mamma Mia experience with Greek tapas at the bar.

“We were just being cheeky really and never imagined that they would agree to perform in such a small space.”

He added: “The events that we had with Sharon and Rob sold out almost immediately.

“We added more shows and in the end we had four sold out shows in three days.

“We had Greek tapas provided by local food company ’Nosh’ and everyone loved it.

“We’ve had amazing feedback and so we felt that we had to do it again.”

Tickets for the Mamma Mia! Mother’s Day event are £40 per person and include afternoon tea, a bottle of Prosecco per person (non-alcoholic options or unlimited soft drinks are available as an alternative) and the show.
