THE Borders recorded more than 600 cases of coronavirus over the weekend, latest figures show.

Statistics from the Scottish Government were updated at 2pm on Monday (March 21).

And they show that the Borders has now recorded 27,186 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic – a rise of 607 from Friday (March 18).

There are 56 people in hospital in the region with recently confirmed cases of the virus, according to the figures.

That is an increase of nine from Friday.

Scotland has now seen 1,693,308 cases since March 2020, the data shows.
