A HAWICK woman has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work after admitting two offences at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Twenty-three-year-old Natalie Elliot pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and possession of cocaine at her Anderson Road home on September 26 last year.

Depute fiscal Joanna Waller said police officers attended at her home at 5am but had no reason to stay and left.

They had to return 20 minutes later and were met by the accused who was instantly aggressive towards the officers.

She swore at them when they asked her to open the door.

Officers tried to arrest her as she continued swearing at them and they struggled to apply handcuffs.

Ms Waller continued: "Police put her in the back of a police vehicle and she started kicking the cage and swearing at officers.

"She was cautioned and charged and made no reply."

Elliot was searched at Hawick Police Station and as found in possession of two bags of white powder which was cocaine with values of £20 and £70.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow said his client had been going through a difficult time and was using drugs at that stage.

Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a Community Pay Back Order as an alternative to a fine which contained 60 hours of unpaid work.
