A BORDERS-BASED cable company is set to expand into North America in what has been described as a “landmark moment”.
The move by Emtelle will create up to 200 jobs, according to a spokesperson for the firm.
The Hawick-headquartered company, which employs 700 staff worldwide, is aiming to open up a facility in Fletcher, North Carolina.
The announcement follows the firm’s recent acquisition of Dubai-based AfriPipes.

Tony Rodgers, Emtelle CEO, said: “Our US expansion marks a landmark moment for Emtelle.
“With an estimated multi billion dollars to be invested in fibre rollouts across the US in the next five years, the new manufacturing facility in Fletcher will better position us to ensure our customers across the US have access to our high-quality product range.”
The firm describes itself as “a leading global manufacturer of pre-connectorised, blown fibre cable, and ducted network solution”.
