IT will be business as usual at a traditional Borders agricultural show this summer after two years of cancellations.

The Border Union Agricultural Society at Springwood Park in Kelso is hard at work planning two major events – Crufts qualifier and Championship Dog  Show (June 18 and 19) and the Border Union Agricultural Show (July 29 and 30).

The Border Union Show, a true celebration of rural life, will give visitors a close encounter with all the best in food and farming produce in the region.

It will be the first opportunity since 2019 local livestock farmers have had to showcase their best in breeds in the ring and the appetite is well and truly back.

The Border Union Show is well-known for its equestrian flavour with judges travelling the length and breadth of the country to give their seal of approval to an array of classes and disciplines competing in the rings.

A full compliment of trade and food stands will be in place during the classic ‘Bake and Create’ industrial section, with a food hall and craft and gift marquee.

Peter Douglas, the Border Union Agricultural Society chairman, said: “The directors and trustees are united in returning with a traditional show that will embrace the farming and rural community that represents all that is special about the Borders and north Northumberland.

“Emerging from the shadows of the pandemic we are all geared up for business as usual. A full programme will be out later in the year but for now, save the dates, and come and enjoy the show.”
