POLICE are appealing for information in an attempt to find out whether a fire that damaged a Borders building was started deliberately.

Emergency services were called out to deal with an incident at the Well House, Jedburgh in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The fire reportedly spread from a motorcycle to the building, damaging the windows and roof.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.

Detective constable Claire White, of Galashiels CID, said: "We are appealing to members of the public who may have any information relating to this fire to contact officers.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have seen anyone suspicious around the time of the incident."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 0373 of April 2.
