A MAN has admitted a charge of child cruelty after being under the influence of drugs.
Passers-by had to assist Alan Connor, 38, of Morrow Gardens, Melrose, and a young child across the road in the town's Market Square.
When police arrived at his home they found him slumped up against a kitchen cupboard unconscious and when woken was slurring his words.
Defence lawyer Stephanie Clinkscale said her client was on a Diazepam prescription but had got his doses wrong.
Sheriff Peter Paterson told Selkirk Sheriff Court it was a serious lapse on Connor's part.
He placed him on a night time curfew for the next six months between the hours of 8pm and 8am.
