A TOTAL of 68-babies were born at the Borders General Hospital in March according to NHS Borders.

Of than number 37 were girls and 31 were boys.

Seven were water deliveries whilst 91 per cent were ‘skin to skin’ at birth.

Sixty-nine per cent of mothers breast fed from birth.

Twenty of the births were Caesarean Sections.

As a matter of course, all patients in UK hospitals are invited to share their experiences of UK health and care services, good or bad in a ‘care opinion.’

The care opinion of the month from a new mother said: “Throughout our pregnancy and labour, everyone we encountered, both in the community midwife team and all the midwives and student midwives at the BGH were fantastic.

Border Telegraph:

“Jo our community midwife helped us come up with a birth plan we were happy about before going to hospital while the midwives and student midwives at the hospital were all kind, friendly and approachable.

“No question was too silly or no request to big. They took our birth preference into account and did their utmost to make these a reality for us.

“Eunice and Kizzy helped us to feel relaxed and supported throughout our labour and made sure it was a calm experience for all.

“Thank you everyone.”
