Police in the Scottish Borders have now confirmed that the pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the A6091 was a 33-year-old male.
He was taken to the Borders General Hospital for treatment but the extent of his injuries has not been released.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 9.50am yesterday (Tuesday April 12 2022).
At that time the locus was given as the A6091 near Kingsknowes Roundabout, Melrose.
It is now understood that the crash took place further east on the A6091 close to the BGH.
The road was closed for almost five hours.
