A MAN has suffered “serious facial injuries” in an assault that took place outside a hotel in the Borders.
The incident happened near the Station Hotel on Market Square, Melrose, between 9.30pm and 10pm on Saturday (April 9), say police.
The 38-year-old man was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment following the assault.

Police are appealing to the public for information.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1998 of April 10.”
