A BORDERS attraction has been officially opened following a £1.4 million refurbishment.
More than 5,000 people have been welcomed through the doors at the Trimontium Museum since August last year, when it was unveiled to visitors.
But due to COVID restrictions there had been no official opening ceremony.
However, that all changed on Thursday when HRH Duke of Gloucester cut the ribbon and unveiled a plaque at the newly-transformed museum in Melrose.
The attraction houses one of the finest collections of Roman military objects on display anywhere in the UK.
The museum is now open daily for the spring and summer with an online booking system which also allows for drop-in visitors.
The trust runs guided fort and town trail history walks and a series of online talks. More information about these and other associated events and activities focusing on archaeology and the local heritage landscape can be found on the museum website www.trimontium.co.uk
