SOME delays are expected for motorists entering and leaving Galashiels this week via the A6091 road.

Temporary traffic lights will be operating on the Galafoot Bridge to facilitate necessary work.

The light will be turned on at 9.30am and turned off at 3.30pm.

This work involves the installation of the installation of anti-access panels.

The lights were in place last week to allow for the cleaning of bearing shelves and repairing a waterproofing patch.

Traffic ran smoothly for the majority of the time although occasionally at busy periods traffic heading out of Galashiels on the A6091 was queued back past the Kingsknowes Roundabout and traffic heading toward the town was queued back to the Abbotsford Roundabout.

A spokesperson for Bear Scotland told the Border Telegraph: “Temporary off-peak traffic lights will be back on this stretch of road again next week for 2-3 days starting on Monday April 25 2022.

“This is to complete the installation of anti-access panels, which couldn’t be carried out this week due to equipment breakdown.”
