A CONCRETE pillar at the site of a Borders monument has been extensively damaged in a vandal attack, say police.
Officers say they received a report of the defacement to one of the pillars securing the protective railings at the Mungo Park monument, Selkirk, on Thursday (April 28).
And they are now appealing for witnesses of the incident – thought to have happened earlier that day – to come forward.
“This monument is located at the junction of Back Row and High Street and the damage was likely caused earlier that same day,” said a Police Scotland spokesperson.
“Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0498 of April 29, 2022.”
