A TREE surgeon who assaulted a young child and a man has been fined £450 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Thirty-year-old Rory Wood, of Innerleithen, intended to slap the youngster on the backside in a house on December 9 but missed hitting him on the thigh leaving a bruise which was picked up by nursery school staff and reported.
Two days later in Craig Terrace, Innerleithen, Wood was sitting in his car when he was confronted by a man about the incident.
Wood punched him on the head to his injury and permanent disfigurement causing his eye to split and leaving a scar.
In addition to the fines he was ordered to pay a £20 Victim Surcharge.
