A MAN and woman suffered serious injuries in a two car crash in the Borders yesterday afternoon Tuesday May 10.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash around 3.45pm which took place on the A698 near Bonjedward.

The road was closed for around two and a half hours whilst police and ambulance staff dealt with the incident.

A 59-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were taken to the Borders General Hospital for treatment.

Their injuries were described by police as ‘serious.’

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 15.45 on Tuesday, 10 May, police were called to a report of a two car crash on the A698 near Bonjedward.

“Emergency services attended and a 59-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were taken to Borders General Hospital with serious injuries.

“The road was fully re-opened at around 6.20pm.”
