A MEMORIAL concert in memory of much loved, well known, and respected GP Dr Chris Cameron took place at Linton Kirk in Kelso last Wednesday May 11.

Dr Cameron had a keen passion for person centred care and was always able to make a difficult situation seem manageable.

He was diagnosed with dementia in later life and moved into Queens House, later moving into Murray House, it’s sister specialist dementia unit.

He was a beacon of love, care and positivity playing his musical instruments to make people smile.

Following challenging delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and several potential cancellations, the group were delighted that the Linton concert was a huge success with Catherine Fish as one of the singers, also singing solo.

Marion Dodd brought the concert together, and was to conduct the choir, but a positive Covid test on the morning of the concert meant that she was unable to attend.

This was a borders wide event from all localities, a chance to come together for the first time to remember a remarkable member of our community.

His impact on the Kelso and full Scottish Borders medical community will not be forgotten and his memory continues which is evident from the success of the concert from his family and friends.

Following the concert, Dr Cameron’s widow Isobel Cameron presented a cheque for £500 to Kelly Brown, Chief Executive of QME Care and Ray Jones, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees in Murray House, Kelso.
