SUNDAY marks the start of the first in-person Melrose Festival since 2019.

After two years of virtual celebrations, the rideouts and festival events return to the town for a week.

Melrosian-elect Douglas Crawford will lead the events with his fellow principals, as well as Melrose Festival Queen Madeline Rausse and her Court.

Melrose Festival week will run from Sunday, June 19 to Saturday, June 25.

Events during the week include:

  • Sunday, June 19 Wreath Laying (10.45am, War Memorial); Kirkin' of the Melrosian (11am, Parish Church); Festival Football competition (12pm, The Greenyards); Festival Netball competition (1pm, Gibson Park); 9-Hole Golf competition (6pm, Melrose Golf Club)
  • Monday, June 20 Rideout (meet at 5.30pm, Gibson Park)
  • Tuesday, June 21 Fancy Dress and Disco (6.15pm, Gibson Park)
  • Wednesday, June 22 Bike Ride and BBQ (6pm, Gibson Park; 8pm, Annay Road)
  • Thursday, June 23 Installation of the Melrosian and Crowning of the Festival Queen (7pm, Melrose Abbey)
  • Friday, June 24 Festival Ball (7.30pm, Annay Road)
  • Saturday, June 25 Tour of Ceremonies (8.45am, Market Square) Sports (2.30pm, Gibson Park) Festival Dinner (7.45pm, George and Abbotsford Hotel)
