A 38-YEAR-OLD man who assaulted his partner to her severe injury in the Borders three years ago has been jailed for a total of 14 months.

Matthew Wotherspoon was found guilty of the offence in Kelso in June 2019 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

He was jailed for 11 months and a non-harassment order was made preventing any contact with the woman for the next 10 years.

Wotherspoon, of Carronshore, near Falkirk, was sentenced to three months imprisonment, back-dated to May 2022, for assaulting the woman to her injury earlier this year and breaching his bail conditions.

Chris Dickson said the 11 months sentence would run consecutive to the three months jail term.
