THE A68 will be restricted to a single lane approximately two miles south of Lauder from Monday June 27 until Sunday July 17.

Traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights 24 hours a day.

The restrictions are to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland  to carry out scour repair works on a culvert that passes under the road,

Chris Tracey, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “These repair works are required to safeguard the integrity of the culvert and the road above.

“It is essential for safety that we close one lane of the A68 during the works.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the works in advance.
