AN exciting new fairytale activity trail for summer 2022, designed to provide a fun and interactive day out for families during the school holidays opened this week at Floors Castle near Kelso.

Running from June 27 of June until September 20, the Fairytale Trail will be open seven days a week for visitors to explore the famous castle grounds, whilst following an activity trail which has been created to amuse and entertain children.

Each child will be given a special activity book upon arrival, containing stories and activities from popular fairytales that will help navigate the trail.

At each of these stop-off points, children are invited to take part in games, activities and tasks, inspired by the magical fairytales.

From recreating their very own Alice in Wonderland by venturing down the rabbit hole to play croquet with flamingos and hedgehogs, to Rapunzel’s whack a wicked witch.

Or how about building the houses of the Three Little Pigs, or doing their best to avoid an untimely end in the jaws of the castles’ resident ticking crocodile.

There is something for everyone to enjoy and each activity book also contains eight fairytales for families to enjoy with their children at home.

The Duke of Roxburghe, who lives at Floors Castle on the Roxburghe Estate said: “I am delighted to announce this exciting new trail for summer 2022, which follows on from the success of last year’s Peter Rabbit trail.

“The trail is a great opportunity to enjoy a wholesome family day out, outdoors in our beautiful, historic gardens.

“Each element of the trail has been designed with families in mind and I’m particularly glad that we’ve been able to make what is sure to be a fun and interactive experience, memorable too.”

Admission to the Fairytale Trail can be purchased in advance or upon arrival and is priced from £8 per adult and £2 per child. For more information or to book online, visit
