A BORDERS choir has raised more than £600 for a local hospital.

The Andante Chamber Choir raised £630 for Kelso Hospital as part of a fundraising campaign by the Friends of Kelso Hospital.

The Friends of Kelso Hospital, with nursing staff embarked on a 68-mile trek along the Borders Abbey Way.

The Kelso Hospital is important to the choir as one of its long-standing members Mike Young has been a patient there after suffering a stroke in August 2021.

Andante Chamber Choir Chairman, David Watt, said: “We all miss Mike so much and wish him as speedy a recovery as possible.

"Mike’s wife, Pat, is also a member of Andante and has been keeping us closely in touch with the progress he is making. It has been a long haul for them both.

"We know how deeply they appreciate the fantastic care Mike has been receiving from the magnificent staff at the hospital.

"This was an ideal way for choir members to say a big ‘thank you’ and to remind all NHS staff how valued they are for the amazing work they do right across the country.

"I understand that the sponsored walk has raised well over £2,000 which is terrific. And money is still coming in!”
