THE first of two public consultation events will be held at a Borders hotel this week ahead of a housing development bid.

Plans for a residential project off Stow Road in Lauder have been unveiled by Edinburgh-based developers Whiteburn Projects.

Whiteburn is preparing to deliver a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes for sale, as well as 25 per cent affordable homes to rent.

But the final mix and scope of the development will be determined after the completion of the public consultation process.

The first consultation event will be held on Wednesday (July 13) between 4-7pm at Lauderdale Hotel on Edinburgh Road.

Roger Bainbridge, director of design and delivery for Whiteburn Projects, said: “Following the successful completion of our Caerlee Mill development in Innerleithen, we are planning our return to the Scottish Borders. Later this year, we plan to make a detailed planning application for new homes on the land off Stow Road in Lauder.

“As part of our local community engagement process, our first public consultation event will take place on Wednesday at the Lauderdale Hotel, and this will allow us to update the local community on our plans.

“It is also an opportunity for us to take the local community’s views into consideration as we develop and finalise our proposals for the site.

“It is our aspiration that Allanbank will provide a natural extension to the existing and vibrant community of Lauder, delivering a choice of new homes that will appeal to local people or those who want to enjoy the fantastic quality of life living in the Scottish Borders offers.”

A further consultation event will be held in August.
