THE owners of a Borders hotel has taken over another hotel.

Owners of the Barony Castle Hotel in Eddleston have acquired the Tontine Hotel in Peebles from Kate and Gordon Innes.

The team of core staff will remain at the Tontine and will be headed by general manager Kirsten Van Wyk, Gordon and Kate Innes's daughter.

Steven Colquhoun, group operations director, said: “The management team have exciting plans for the Tontine, originally commissioned by Kate & Gordon including ongoing refurbishment of the hotel as well as bringing new booking and operational systems in line with Barony Castle.

"They are committed to the Tontine continuing to be 'the Hotel in the heart of Peebles' while modernising and refreshing their offering to appeal to both regular and new guests.

"The group has employment opportunities in many areas, including management and dual-site positions, and offers competitive pay and excellent benefits.

"They believe that hospitality is a core business in the Scottish Borders and want to see this grow and thrive to the benefit of the community as a whole.”

Gordon and Kate Innes have owned and managed the Tontine Hotel since 2001.

Kate said: “Gordon and I are very proud of the many improvements we have implemented to the Tontine hotel over the past 21 years and we leave happy in the knowledge that the Tontine is a thriving business with an excellent team and that the new owners are 100 per cent committed to delivering the service you are all accustomed to.

"Our heartfelt thanks to our amazing team, customers, suppliers and friends, both past & present, for your incredible support over the past 21 years, without which none of this would have been possible.

"We leave the Tontine in excellent hands, certain that it will remain ‘the hotel in the heart of Peebles’ so please continue to come in and enjoy everything that the hotel has to offer."

The two local families which now own the Tontine Hotel have run Barony Castle Hotel since 2012.
