A BORDERS man who brandished a hatchet during a confrontation has been jailed for 12 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Carol Kirsopp, 34, also caused a disturbance at Borders General Hospital following the incident in Coldstream's Market Square.
He pleaded guilty to shouting and swearing, acting in an aggressive manner, repeatedly banging on windows, brandishing a hatchet, challenging two men to fight and throwing the axe against a wall on February 18.
Kirsopp also admitted possession of an offensive weapon, namely the hatchet, and threatening or abusive behaviour at the hospital.

The court heard that Kirsopp confronted two brothers at their home and threw the axe at a window but it missed and it struck a wall.
Defence lawyer Ross Dow said the two brothers were known to the courts and that the axe had belonged to them but Kirsopp disarmed them and then chased them to the property.
He added that Kirsopp, of Abbey Row, had been taken off his medication at the time of the offence.
Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed three jail sentences totalling 12 months which was back-dated to February 21 when he was first remanded in custody in connection with the matter.
