NO TRAINS will be running on the Borders Railway line in either direction tomorrow Wednesday July 27, and a number of services previously scheduled to run on Thursday July 28 have been cancelled.

This is due to a national strike action across the Great Britain railway network by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) in a separate dispute with Network Rail and other train operating companies.

The planned strikes on those three days will cause disruption to ScotRail services, as Network Rail Scotland signallers and maintenance staff, who are in safety-critical roles, will be on strike.

As it stands, ScotRail will be able to operate the following services between 0730 and 1830 tomorrow.

Two trains per hour will rind from Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High, Edinburgh to Bathgate, Glasgow to Hamilton / Larkhall, Glasgow to Lanark and one train per hour will run from Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts.

Customers who need to travel on July 27 should check the first or/and last train times, particularly as final services will depart well before 18.30.

Network Rail will be unable to open any other signal boxes to operate passenger services on any other routes on the strike days.

As there will be very limited services running, ScotRail are asking passengers to only travel if necessary and if anyone has to travel they should expect disruption and plan ahead.

On the evening before (Tuesday July 26), and the morning after (Thursday July 28) the strike action there will be disruption caused by the closing and reopening of signal boxes at different times across the country.

The following Borders Railway trains have been cancelled on Thursday July 28.

Tweedbank to Edinburgh services 5.49am, 6.20am and 6.50am and Edinburgh to Tweedbank services 6.10, 6.41 and 7.14.

Passengers should check train times for your entire journey on Journey Planner or the ScotRail App.

More details regarding timetables for strike action on  August 18 and 20 will be provided in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, passengers are advised to keep checking this page or follow us on ScotRail Twitter for updates.
