GALA Fairydean Rovers boss Martin Scott has hailed the input from new signing Danny Galbraith in last night victory over Civil Service Strollers in Edinburgh.

After a goalless first half, Gala stormed into a three goal lead within 15-minutes of the restart to secure the well-deserved win.

Galbraith, who returned to the club in the summer after a season with Bo’ness opened the scoring in the 46th minute.

Skipper Gareth Rodger who was only cleared to play a few hours before kick off following his red card against Caledonian Braves on Saturday netted the second before Galbraith added a third with a contender for goal of the season.

Strollers, who came into the game full of confidence after beating Rangers B last Friday, scored a late consolation but the Braw Lads held on and the three points returned to Netherdale.

After the final whistle Scott said: “It was always going to be a difficult place to come, and I have the utmost respect for Civil. They are a very well organised team and Gary (Jardine) is obviously a very experienced coach.

“And they are just off the back of a very good win on Friday night so we knew it would be a tough place to come.

“But I thought our guys to a man were excellent tonight and I am very happy with our performance.

“At half time we just made a couple of wee tweaks. We were doing OK in the game. Defensively we looked solid which was pleasing but we gave the players a bit more information about how to affect the game going forward and shooting down toward the Pavilion we always seem to do very well.

“The first goal was a bit scrappy but it seemed to settle us down, Gareth scored the second then Danny Galbraith’s goal was unreal. It was a fitting goal to win any game.

“Danny doesn’t need kudos because he is the ultimate professional on and off the park and five minutes into the second half he took the game by the scruff of the neck and he really drove the team on. Then he showed his class with the goal.

“But than comes from his team mates giving him a platform to showcase his talents and that’s what he done. I think he is going to be a massive part in terms of how we play so it’s pleasing that he is back at the club.”

Galbraith added: “The manger said before the game that Civil are a top-6 team and they can consistently finish there and we had to treat them with that respect. And I think we did. You do that by matching them first and foremost.

“It’s great that we want to play a certain style of football but if you want to come to a place like this and play tippy tappy football and don’t match the kind of work rate in the physical side of it then you will get turned over.

“So that was obviously a huge plus point for us. We did do the basics really well. I thought we looked quite solid barring the last few minutes.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I didn’t really want to leave in the first place because I had a great time before and probably the only option for me was to come back here because at my age I’m playing because I want to enjoy it and get something out of it. I did here before and it’s like I’ve never been away.”
