YOUNG musicians from the Borders will be able to take part in a new event next month.

From Tuesday, August 9 to Thursday, August 11, St Ronan's Silver Band will hold its first band camp.

The event will be open to young brass and percussion players, with classes open to beginners, more advanced players and new and existing members of the Ronan Buzzers.

Chair of St Ronan's Band Claire Bell said: "We are delighted to have been able to bring this idea to fruition.

"We have a very long tradition of nurturing young musicians and our brand-new Band Camp is designed to give fledgling players the opportunity to come together to have fun playing music."

The free sessions at Innerleithen Church of Scotland are set to be a lot of fun with plenty of music.

Mrs Bell added: "We have appointed a very experienced team of tutors to lead the event and are looking forward to three great days of fun and music."

The St Ronan's Silver Band Band Camp has been supported by Scottish Band Association, Peebles and District Round Table, St Ronan's Hotel and Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair Rotary Club.
