AN EYEMOUTH man involved in a bust-up with his partner has been fined £300 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Rihards Smirnovs 50, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at a house in the town on October 1.
The court was told that the partner left the house to go to a neighbour's house due to the aggression from Smirnovs who had been drinking vodka.
Fiscal Fiona Hamilton said neighbours could hear being abusive in Russian, Latvian and English - sometimes rolling all three languages into the same sentence.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client had no previous convictions for domestic matters.
He added: "He fully accepts he crossed the line. Alcohol was the cause but it is not an excuse."
After hearing Smirnovs had been of good behaviour during a six month period, Sheriff Janyss Scott opted for the fine of £300 with a £20 victim surcharge.
