A KIND-hearted schoolgirl from Peebles has donated 24 inches of her beautiful long hair to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own through cancer treatment or other conditions.

And Summer Noble, who turned 11 in May, decided that her first ever haircut would go to help others less fortunate.

So the day before she started in Primary 7 at Halyrude Primary School, Summer and mum Kelly visited Scissor Happy hairdressers shop in Peebles where stylist Louise set to work.

And everyone is happy. Summer looks great and has less hair to slow her down playing football, hockey and netball and mum is saving a fortune on conditioner.

Summer, who lives in Peebles with mum Kelly, dad Graham, sisters Sophie (16) and Sadie (8) and brother Sean (13) said: “I’ve been thinking about getting my hair cut for some time so when I read about the Little Princess Trust online and how they make wigs for children who are ill I decided that donating it to that charity would be a nice thing to do.

“They wanted around 12 inches but I was able to send them double that.

“It feels a heck of a lot lighter so I have no regrets about getting it done.

“I only told one friend that I was getting it done so everyone got a shock when I turned up to school.”

Proud mum Kelly added: “Summer said one day that if and when she got her hair cut that she would like to donate it to the Little Princess Trust. It was her own idea.

“So we made an appointment last Wednesday (August 17) with Louise at Scissor Happy in Peebles and I took photographs before, during and after.

“This was her first ever haircut and her hair, which was in plaits was down to her knees.

“We put the hair into a sealed envelope and sent it to the Trust. I think they send back a ‘thank you’ certificate but that’s not arrived yet.

“Louise did a great job and Summer looks fantastic. Everyone is so proud of her.”
