FIVE sheep have drowned in a Borders loch after being chased by a dog, according to police.
An investigation is under way following the incident at St Mary’s Loch, Summerhope, next to the A708.
It is believed to have happened between 8.30am and 11am on Saturday (September 3).

Officers say the sheep were chased by a dog, forcing them into the water where they drowned.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This has been incredibly distressing for the owner of the sheep and will have a financial impact on the person’s livelihood.
“If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1377 of September 3, 2022.”
