TEMPORARY traffic lights are set to be in place on a major Borders road for six weeks, according to officials.

BEAR Scotland will carry out repair works to an embankment on the east side of the A68, north of Jedburgh.

The works will be carried out during daylight hours, beginning on Monday (September 26) and concluding on Tuesday, November 1.

One lane will be closed on the A68 during the six-week period.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “For the safety of the workforce and the travelling public, it will be necessary to close one lane of the A68 while we complete repairs to the embankment. Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the works.

“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”

The works will help to stabilise the embankment supporting the A68 and improve the drainage system on the section of the road, say officials.
