A MISSING Borders woman ‘may have changed her hair colour’ as police continue in their bid to trace her.

Michelle Pettie, 45, was first reported missing to officers on Monday, September 5.

The last reported sighting of her was near the shops in Hawthorn Road, Galashiels, at around 9am on Friday, September 9, say police.

She is described as white, around 5ft3 inches in height with a slim build.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “She often dyes her hair and at this time it’s believed to be dyed a pink/purple colour. However, it is possible she may have changed it again in the last few days.

“When she was last seen, she was wearing a black jacket and jeans.”

Extensive enquiries are ongoing with police continuing to speak to her family and friends for any additional information. Officers are also checking relevant CCTV footage.

Inspector Lynsey Thomson said: “We are concerned for Michelle’s welfare, no-one has heard from her or seen her since the sighting in Galashiels on Friday. Her family is, understandably, very worried about her and just want to know she is safe and well.

“I would ask people to note that Michelle may have changed her hair colour and to bear that in mind when looking out for her. If anyone has seen Michelle or has any information or knowledge as to her whereabouts please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1749 of September 5, 2022.
