PARENTS are concerned about some pupils vaping while on buses travelling to Peebles High School, a meeting has been told.
Members of Peebles and District Community Council heard that Innerleithen residents have spoken to a councillor about their concerns.
Pupils are unsupervised while on the school buses between Innerleithen and Peebles.
Tweeddale East councillor Marshall Douglas, of the SNP, said: “I have received complaints from parents who are concerned that their children are being exposed to vaping smoke, when travelling on school buses, between Innerleithen and Peebles.”
Mr Douglas added: “I have spoken to the head teacher and he has assured me that pupils using those buses would be spoken to, as well as the bus operator.”
A Scottish Borders Council spokesperson said: “We have asked all transport operators to report any incidents to the school and passenger transport teams so that the matter can be dealt with swiftly.”
