POLICE searching for a missing Borders woman recovered a body from the River Tweed at Lowood Bridge near Melrose on Sunday September 25.
No formal identification has taken place and officers say that their enquiries are ongoing.
Michelle Pettie (45) was reported missing from her home in the Eildon Crescent Melrose more than two weeks ago.
Since that time officers have issued several appeals for the public’s help to trace her and the police helicopter was deployed to assist in the search.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.20pm on Sunday, 25 September, 2022 officers were called to a report of a body having been found in the River Tweed at Lowood Bridge, Melrose.
"Officers attended and the body was removed from the water. Identification has not yet taken place and enquiries are ongoing.”
