SOUTH Park Wood was transformed into an enchanting wonderland last Saturday evening (October 1) with a spectacular light display for the Tweed Valley Trail Run.

The nightfall event was the highlight of an exciting day of racing which saw hundreds of runners take to the trails around Peebles in a line-up of 5K, 10K and 20K races.

Some participants even had a day and a night race in their legs.

Runners from across Scotland and beyond were treated to beautiful hilltop trails, fine views and a great atmosphere back at the Hay Lodge event village.

After the nightfall race, one runner commented: “I know it’s a race, but I had to stop and take photos of the amazing light show! It was so atmospheric in the trees.”

Event director, Neil Dalgleish said: “The light display really was something special – what better way to celebrate the local forests and natural beauty of the area.

“The Tweed Valley is already a go-to destination for cyclists, and we hope that events like the Trail Run will showcase it as the perfect place for off-road running too.”
