FULL road closures of the A68 south of Earlston start tonight Monday October 17.

The closure is to allow for improved road markings and road stud works to be undertaken and it is a full road closure to ensure the safety of those carrying out the work and the travelling public.

The closures will happen on the following dates and times:

Monday October 17 and Tuesday October 18 7.30pm – 6am from A68 at Earlston to Ravenswood Roundabout. (Signed diversions via A6105, A6089, A699 and A68

Wednesday October 19 and Thursday October 20 7.30pm – 6am Ravenswood Roundabout to St Boswells. (Signed diversions via A6901, A7 and A699)

A68 St Boswells to Bonjedward Friday October 21 7.30pm – 6am then Monday October 24 to Thursday October 27 7.30pm to 6am (Signed diversions between Bonjedward and the A68 / A6088 junction via A698 and A6088.

A68 Bonjedward to A68 / A6088 junction Monday November 7 to Friday 11 and Monday 14 to Friday 18 7.30pm – 6am (Signed diversions via A698 and A6088.)

A68 / A6088 to national boundary Friday November 18 7.30pm to 6am – Single lane closure with temporary traffic lights.

A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland said: “Due to the high volume of traffic through this section of the A68, we have no option but to close the road to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public.

“During construction hours a clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

“Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Local access will be maintained up to the point of the works extent and local access for residents within the closure will also be maintained throughout the duration of the work.”
