In 2020 BEAR Scotland began an eight-year contract to manage and maintain the trunk road network in South East Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.

This covers 506km of trunk roads through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders.

It includes routes such as the Edinburgh City Bypass, as well as a large section of the M8 connecting Edinburgh to Glasgow.

The South East Unit also includes 870 bridges and structures including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s South East Operating Company Representative said:“Trunk roads in the South East of Scotland are essential lifelines and we’re building up our team to maintain and look after them for years to come.
